I work on participatory design of technology, such as the eXtensible Catalog, and other software and library projects. This work has entailed studies of faculty members, staff, and students at my university and at universities all over the world My participation in AMICAL projects has been a particular joy. I also enjoy running workshops for the Council on Library and Information Resources. I co-edited the 2007 book, Studying Students: The Undergraduate Research Project at the University of Rochester and am editing a second volume of that work. Other wonderful projects that focus on space design while also taking take account of digital technologies include the reprogramming of McKeldin Library at the University of Maryland and participatory design of the new Active Learning Center at Purdue University.
